How many users can log into the portal?

The license for SharePoint Vitals Enterprise is farm-based, so it supports an unlimited number of users. The free Standard edition supports up to 100 users, and the Professional edition is suitable for organisations with fewer than 300 users.

Where is data about my SharePoint sites stored?

All data gathered about your SharePoint deployment is stored in a securely hosted Azure SQL database, and using the Windows Azure Table Storage service. Data in SQL tables is relational and structured, whereas Azure Table Storage is designed to store very large amounts of non-relational, unstructured data. Based on independent audits, Azure is one of the world's best cloud storage facilities.

What type of data is stored?

We do not collect any document or content information from your SharePoint environment. This allows us to comply with all international and national privacy regulations. Information that SharePoint Vitals does collect and store includes web URL, SharePoint site name, account name, external IP address, page load times and time on page values.

How long is my data stored?

We store all data collected from your SharePoint deployment for all time, from the moment you install SharePoint Vitals to the moment you deactivate it. This means you can access and compare statistics across time, whenever required.

How does SharePoint Vitals show my data so quickly?

Will I be able to get back all my data?

How does SharePoint Vitals communicate with the cloud?

Once the SharePoint sandbox code is activated on a site collection, a hidden web part is placed on every page in the collection. This web part contains two lines of code that contact SharePoint Vitals in Azure and start the transfer of requested information from host headers and requests. The communication takes place at the users' front end, rather than at the server backend. In other words, the server never communicates any of your information to the "outside world". User processes pass required information to secure Azure-based storage, over a secure HTTPS connection. All data is encrypted and only requested data is sent.

What ports are used?

Only port 443 is used to transfer any information from your SharePoint environment to the SharePoint Vitals Azure-based location.

What process do I follow to install SharePoint Vitals?

Anyone with SharePoint Site Collection Administration rights can easily install SharePoint Vitals, using the unique key provided on download or purchase. During the installation process, a sandbox code Windows SharePoint file (WSP), which is compliant with SharePoint Online, must be uploaded and activated for each site collection.
